Free for Injured Workers

Connect with the Right Attorney. No Games.

A transparent, neutral attorney connection service for New York workers' compensation. Attorneys are assigned by neutral rotation. No paid placement, no referral fees, and no endorsements in this service. Just real representation.

How It Works

How It Works for Injured Workers

Three simple steps to connect with a licensed attorney.

1

Tell Us About Your Case

Submit your county, injury type, and case stage. No account needed. Your information stays private and is only shared with one participating attorney at a time.

2

We Connect You

Your information is sent to a participating attorney in your area through neutral, mechanical assignment. No attorney is recommended or endorsed.

3

The Attorney Contacts You

A licensed NYS workers' compensation attorney will reach out within 48 hours. If they don't, we automatically connect you with another attorney.

No account needed. Takes about 2 minutes.

Our Transparency Promise

Six core principles that make this service different.

No Paid Placement

Attorneys cannot pay for priority in this service. Assignment is by neutral round-robin rotation, not bidding or rankings. Our separate Attorney Directory is paid advertising and has no effect on assignment here.

🚫

Flat Lead Fee Only

Attorneys pay a flat per-lead fee. No referral fees, no percentage of your case, no kickbacks.

🎲

Random Order Every Time

Every visitor sees a different order. We use Fisher-Yates shuffle, reseeded on each page load. There is no "first slot" to buy.

🙅

No Endorsements

Listing is purely informational. The Comp Desk does not recommend, certify, or endorse any attorney. You decide.

📊

No Tracking

We don't monitor which attorney you click or call. Your choice remains private between you and the attorney.

🛡️

Owner Excluded

Joel Mays' firm (Shulman & Hill) is permanently excluded from this connection service and can never receive a rotation assignment. He is an attorney there, not an owner or partner. Enforced by code. He does appear as a paid listing in our separate Attorney Directory, which is advertising, not assignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how the network works.

Does The Comp Desk recommend specific attorneys?
No. The Comp Desk does not endorse, recommend, or certify any attorney in the network. Attorney assignment is mechanical and based on neutral round-robin rotation. You are responsible for evaluating attorneys and choosing one that fits your needs.
How are attorneys assigned to my case?
Attorneys are assigned through neutral round-robin rotation based on your county. There is no bidding, no rankings, and no paid priority. When you submit your case information, the next participating attorney in your county's rotation receives a notification. If they don't respond within 48 hours, the lead automatically moves to the next attorney.
Why is the owner's firm (Shulman & Hill) excluded?
To avoid conflict of interest. Joel Mays, the creator of The Comp Desk, is an attorney at Shulman & Hill — not an owner or partner. His firm is permanently excluded from this connection service and can never receive a rotation assignment, which is enforced by automated testing in the code. Separately, The Comp Desk operates a paid Attorney Directory, clearly labeled attorney advertising, in which Joel Mays is a paid listing. The two are independent: paying for a directory listing has no effect on assignment in this service, and a listing is not an endorsement.
How much does it cost for attorneys to participate?
Attorneys purchase lead credits. A single credit costs $99. Volume packages are available: 3 credits for $249 (Starter), 5 credits for $449 (Standard), or 10 credits for $799 (Volume). One credit is used per accepted lead. There are no monthly fees, no setup fees, and no referral percentages. Injured workers use the service completely free of charge.
What if I accept a lead but can't reach the worker?
If you document 3 contact attempts over 5 business days and the worker remains unreachable, you receive a full credit refund. Contact joel@thecompdesk.com with your attempt log to request the refund.
Can I request removal from the network?
Yes. Any attorney can request removal from the network by contacting The Comp Desk at joel@thecompdesk.com. Removal is processed within one business day. Unused credits are refundable. No questions asked.
