The short version: We don't collect your name, case details, wages, or any personally identifiable information. Calculator data never leaves your device. We use privacy-respecting analytics with all PII stripped before transmission.

This Privacy Policy describes how NJJ Document Services, Inc. d/b/a The Comp Desk ("The Comp Desk," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use thecompdesk.com and related tools.

1. What We Collect

We collect limited technical information to operate and improve the site:

We do not collect IP addresses in a persistent or identifiable form. Before any analytics data is transmitted, your IP address is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you.

All calculations are performed locally in your browser. No calculation input or output is transmitted to our servers.

PostHog may set a first-party cookie or use localStorage to distinguish unique sessions for aggregate counting purposes. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is not shared with third parties for advertising.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party ad networks. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.

We store a tcd_analytics_accepted flag in your browser's localStorage when you dismiss our analytics notice. This flag does not contain personal information.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months for trend analysis, after which they are deleted or further aggregated.

If you have an account, your account data (email address, subscription status) is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@thecompdesk.com or by using the account deletion feature at Delete My Account.

We do not retain any calculator inputs or outputs on our servers, because we never receive them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. Because we collect very little identifiable information, most requests can be satisfied quickly.

Residents of New York and California may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law.

7. Children's Privacy

The Comp Desk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@thecompdesk.com and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email. Continued use of this site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
