About Joel-George

If you were hurt at work in New York, the system you just landed in was not built to be understood by the person it is supposed to help. My practice is devoted entirely to New York Workers' Compensation, on the claimant side, and most of what I do is make that system legible and then make it work for the person in front of me.

I appear before the New York State Workers' Compensation Board and handle claims through the full lifecycle — accident, notice and causal relationship; degree of disability; permanency and schedule loss of use; and Section 32 settlements.

I also built The Comp Desk. The calculators, the OC-400.1 fee-application tooling, and the Comp Buddy claimant app are all mine — designed and written because the math that decides what an injured worker actually receives should not be a black box, to them or to their attorney.

Before law, I worked at Housing Action Council, Inc. on condominium offering plans and cooperative policy statements filed with the New York Attorney General, not-for-profit corporate governance, and affordable-housing development policy and financing.

I am from Miami, Florida. Before law school I earned a B.A. in Dance from the University of Florida, and I am a New World School of the Arts alumnus.
